Let’s begain

Step 1: On your old phone, open WhatsApp QR Code Scanner.

With this method, you can use a QR code and a local Wi-Fi link to move your WhatsApp between two devices that use the same operating system. The feature makes it easy and seamless for users to move their chat logs and other data from one device to another.

The steps are the same on both systems, and for this tutorial, we’ll be using Android phones. So, this is how it works:

  1. Open WhatsApp and tap the button with three dots at the top right.

2. Find the drop-down menu and tap the Settings option. Then tap the Chats option.

3. Then, tap the choice to Transfer Chats. Now you’ll see the welcome screen, which has a Start button you need to tap.

4. When your phone asks for permission to use Nearby Wi-Fi and Location, say yes to both.

5. Now, a screen with a QR Code scanner will show. It will ask you to start setting up the new phone.

Step 2: Move your WhatsApp conversations from your old phone to your new one.

When you get to the screen where you can read the QR code, it’s time to set up WhatsApp on your new phone. Now, keep in mind that for this method to work, you must first open the “Transfer Chat” QR code reader on your old phone.

We’ll show you how to use a QR code to move WhatsApp chats below:

  1. Put WhatsApp on your new phone (it’s free and works on both Android and iOS) and sign up with the same phone number as your old phone.

2. Now, use the 6-digit code you get on your old phone or new phone to confirm your phone number.

3. When you see the “Transfer chat history from old phone” screen, tap the Continue button.

4. Now, you need to give WhatsApp access to Wi-Fi and your location on your new phone.

5. WhatsApp will now make a QR code that you need to scan with your old phone.

6. Now, use your old phone to scan the QR code and accept the request to connect it to your new phone.

7. That’s it; the WhatsApp data sharing will now start. Stay on the screen that says “Transfer” until the move is done.

8. When the upload is done, tap the Next button to start using WhatsApp on your new phone.

So, that’s all. This is how you use the new QR-code-based way to move WhatsApp chats without making a backup.

Even though this method works pretty well, it’s always a good idea to back up your chats in case your phone gets lost or stolen. Check out how to move WhatsApp chats from an Android phone to an iPhone as well.
